Rare Malts Selection
Historical context
Distilled in 1972, a period when Brora distillery was producing heavily peated spirit before its closure in 1983. This bottling was released as part of the Rare Malts Selection, which gained cult status for whiskies from 'lost distilleries'. Brora reopened in 2021.

Nose
Peaty, seaweedy, smoky, and salty with notes of caramel, toasted oak, and baking spices. Hints of iodine, diesel, marzipan, menthol, eucalyptus, and churned earth. Fruity notes of peach, apple, and lemon, with some shoe polish and leather.
Palate
A soft, creamy, smoky, and slightly salty character with layers of vanilla, honey, and rich malt sweetness. Flavors of almond, earthiness, mild goat cheese, barley sugar, marzipan, and chrysanthemum. Malty and spicy with a firm kick, waxy, oily, and lightly peaty/smoky, with hints of tar/diesel.
Finish
Long and smooth with lingering oak and spice. Clings to the back of the throat with sweet peat, sea salt, coal, and aged leathery qualities.
