- Nose
- Opens with classic Oloroso notes of sultanas, dates, raisins, sweet barley sugar, and a hint of tangerine zest, followed by rich vanilla and nutty nougat. Further aromas include soft guava, melon, pear, sea breezes, wild flowers, salty notes, toffee, earthy cloves, cinnamon, cured meats, baking spices, sweet dark dried stone fruits, orange custard, faint brine, marzipan, dark cocoa, and freshly oiled leather.
- Palate
- Magical and deep, with flavors spreading gently. Notes of leather, plum, oak, raisins, dark chocolate, raspberry, salt/pepper, cinnamon, big, rich, oily, chewy caramels, tablet, sweet black peppery spice, plums, berries stewed in red wine, sweet tobacco, white pepper heat, and a very faint wisp of smoke.
- Finish
- Long and lingering, surprisingly dry, with notes of leather, tobacco, dark chocolate, raisins, mineral, pepper, nutmeg, spice, vanilla, caramel, sea salt, fruity sweetness, light fruity bitterness (like grape seeds or apple peels), and a light smoky sea salt.
