Nose
Notes of earthy dried fruit and layers of spice immediately open on the nose, followed by subtle hints of oak, prunes, crushed black pepper and roasted coffee beans. Charred oak and cloves mingle with liquorice and leather complemented with chocolate, marzipan, and sweet malt biscuits.
Palate
Spices initially dominate the palate, with a robust mix of nutmeg, black liquorice, sultanas, and dates enhanced with leather and charred aged oak. A second sip highlights the flavours from the oak with the sherry casks bringing dried fruit, chocolate and almond while the American oak provides vanilla, sweet toffee, brown sugar, and honey.
Finish
Long and complex. Layered spices blend with citrus fruits, while toasted oak, smooth honey, chocolate, and a hint of gorse flower lingers.
