Description
Mothballed by previous owners Whyte & Mackay, Bruichladdich distillery was revived in the year 2000 by indy bottler Murray McDavid. For a long time the distillery was the black sheep of Islay, on account of producing unpeated whisky in order to meet its owner's blending requirements. Contrary to general expectations though, this also made it a hit with the locals. This expression, the third in the Islay barley exploration series, was produced using unpeated barley wholly harvested from a single field at Rockside Farm on Islay in 2006 and distilled in 2007. It was matured in American oak (ex-Bourbon) casks and bottled free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.
