Description
Mothballed by previous owners Whyte & Mackay, Bruichladdich distillery was revived in the year 2000 by independent bottler Murray McDavid. For a long time the distillery was the black sheep of Islay, on account of producing unpeated whisky in order to meet its owner's blending requirements. Contrary to general expectations though, this also made it a hit with the locals who were presumably sick of... This particular release is part of the Bruichladdich Micro Provenance series, an exploratory range of single cask whiskies hand-selected to showcase the complexity and provenance of each cask. This 1991 vintage, 20-year-old expression was bottled in 2012 from Cask No. 001, a refill bourbon hogshead, with an outturn of 288 bottles. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at 48.9% ABV.
