Description

A single malt distillery on the isle of Islay, currently part of the whisky holdings of French company, Rémy Cointreau. The distillery's flagship brand of single malt is a non-peated style, however it also produces peated variants called Port Charlotte and Octomore, as well as The Botanist gin. The Micro-Provenance series is unique to Bruichladdich and is conceived as a series of individual cask bottlings, individually selected by master distiller Jim McEwan to examine the evolutionary influences on maturing Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Nose
A wiff of peat, and lots of grape sweetness. A little salty.
Palate
Enters with a strong and filling burn, before some oak spices takes over. With the addition of water it quickly becomes easier to drink, and the peat comes through better. A slightly citric taste lies beneath.
Finish
Medium-long. Oak spices continue over from the taste, before the sweetness of the sauternes cask takes over.
