Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 02.1 / 2_140 is the second-ever release in the highly acclaimed Octomore series, bottled in 2009. This 5-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is renowned as one of the world's most heavily peated whiskies, with a staggering 140 ppm. Matured in American oak (Bourbon) casks, it offers an intense yet surprisingly balanced profile, showcasing the distillery's unique slow trickle-distillation process. It was released as a very limited edition.

Nose
Highly peated with intense peat smoke, often described as farmy, dry, and ashy, with notes of iodine, burning heather, oily, sea-encrusted rope, herbs, cold smoke, pears, chocolate, white pepper, vanilla, lemon, green apple, and pine needle. It can also present with cigar ashes and apple peelings, and with water, becomes rounder with soot, tar, liquorice, mint, Vicks, and camphor.
Palate
A powerful and phenolic experience, with a tempest of peaty marine spirit. It's biting yet pleasant, with ashes, marzipan, strong coffee, liquorice, sweet, fudgy caramel, iodine, myrtle, birch, dark chocolate, and spicy notes. The smoke grows, exploding in char and wood notes.
Finish
Very long and intense, with persistent ash, tar, fudge, smoke, earthy, herbal, salt, and oak notes.
