Description

A distillery-exclusive release for Feis Ile 2016 from Bruichladdich, this PHD 135 was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2016 at 50% ABV. Created to mark the distillery's 135th anniversary, it was matured for 14 years in a combination of first-fill bourbon, ex-sherry and French wine casks before receiving a final finish in virgin oak. This lightly peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was released in a limited outturn of 1,881 numbered bottles and was only available on site at the distillery.

Slight dunnage, baked apples, slight apple cider, slight custard, malt, salty, saltine crackers, slight smoke, slight caramel.
Palate
Salt, malt, smoke, warm spiced apple cider, oak spice, slight winey, very slight butyric acid. Medium mouthfeel.
Finish
The salt and smoke hold, the cider and wine fade fast, the spice also goes quickly. Short length.
