Description
Mothballed by previous owners Whyte & Mackay, Bruichladdich distillery was revived in the year 2000 by indy bottler Murray McDavid. This Bruichladdich 1990 25 Year Old Sherry Cask Edition is a rare unpeated Islay single malt, matured in a variety of casks. The original spirit was distilled in 1990 and divided into two batches. Batch one matured for 17 years in refill bourbon casks, followed by 5 years in premium French wine casks and 4 years in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Batch two matured for 18 years in refill sherry butts, and after 7 years was transferred into Oloroso sherry casks. These two whiskies were brought together in 2016. It was initially designed for the travel retail market and is a limited release of 6,000 bottles. It is presented at 48.1% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural colour. [1, 2, 3, 5, 7]
