Description

A single malt distillery on the isle of Islay, currently part of the whisky holdings of French company, Rémy Cointreau. The distillery's flagship brand of single malt is a non-peated style, however it also produces peated variants called Port Charlotte and Octomore, as well as The Botanist gin. This is a private cask bottling from Bruichladdich, aged for 20 years in a sherry hogshead.

Nose
Heavy sherry, overripe figs, prunes, black cherries, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, chocolate cake, with hints of malt and a touch of soap/lactic notes.
Palate
Syrupy mouthfeel, sweet caramel, strawberries in cream, chocolate syrup, sea salt, vanilla, powdered sugar, dark chocolate with cinnamon and spice, reminiscent of Mexican hot chocolate.
Finish
Medium long, drying, with notes of cocoa, burnt caramel, spiced lebkucken, salted dark chocolate, oak, and spicy Mexican chipotle peppers.
