Description

Buchanan's De Luxe 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky is a classic and iconic blend, established by James Buchanan in 1884. It is known for its smooth and refined character, crafted from a selection of aged malt and grain whiskies, including Highland malts like Dalwhinnie. The blend is matured for a minimum of 12 years in oak casks. It has gained significant popularity, particularly in Latin American markets.

Nose
Bright tangerine, lemon, and orange, with sweet notes of caramel and honey, followed by dark chocolate, salted nuts, toasted cereal grains, and hints of peat smoke. Heather honey, baked vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, and a touch of fresh herbs. Floral grain, sweet sherry, toasted oak, red apples, raisins, Brazil nuts, candy floss, banana, fabric conditioner, new leather, and baking spice.
Palate
Sweet and smooth with orange and chocolate notes. Initial sweetness followed by a strong fruity flavor, possibly prunes. Very light and somewhat like a Dalwhinnie. Citrus fruits and honey. Less sweet than expected, with bright green apple, more orange and tangerine, spicy black pepper, toffee, cocoa, and a smoky element of tobacco and peat. Rich with honeyed cereals, salted butter, toffee apples with clove and cinnamon, orange peel, walnuts, and peppery spice. Fresh and lively, with black pepper, sweet tobacco, and salty chocolate.
Finish
Slight peaty note and a very mild malty finish. Lingering spice with salty sweet chocolate-covered caramel and wisps of campfire. Medium length, warming, with lingering honey, vanilla, and a whisper of oak dryness. A little short with pepper, clove spice, honey, and some drying oak.
