Description

The 12-year-old from Bunnahabhain was first introduced in 1979 and remains a staple of the distillery's core range to this day. Bunnahabhain is a whisky distillery on the isle of Islay, notable as one of just two on the island where the preferred production is a non-peated single malt. It has been a part of the Scotch whisky holdings of the South African Distell Group since 2013.

Nose
Fresh, sweet, and floral with notes of seaweed, rich malt, dried fruit, camphor, caramel, chocolate orange, and apple poached in cinnamon. Also hints of blackcurrant jam, vanilla, cloves, figs, dates, fruitcake, walnuts, dark chocolate, concentrated vanilla syrup, tropical fruit, malted biscuit, ginger, nutmeg, mocha, and orange peel.
Palate
Soft and supple with a nutty, sherried quality, vanilla, marmalade, sultanas, and a bright coastal element. Rich sherry, roasted nuts, sweet malt, velvety caramel, and a subtle coastal influence. Intense toffee, malted barley, mocha, and orange peel with a clear salty/maritime and savoury element.
Finish
Mochaccino, dried herbs, Christmas cake spice, and a balanced salty tang. Long and lingering, rich, full-bodied with a spray of sea salt. Mocha, walnut, fine oaky tannin, and a lingering vanilla note.
