Description

The 12-year-old from Bunnahabhain was first introduced in 1979 and remains a staple of the distillery's core range to this day. A whisky distillery on the isle of Islay, notable as one of just two on the island where the preferred production is a non-peated single malt. It has been a part of the Scotch whisky holdings of the South African Distell Group since 2013.

Nose
Sweet and fruity with notes of blackcurrant jam, vanilla, cloves, and a hint of seaweed. Also, fresh, floral, rich malt, dried fruit, caramel, chocolate orange, and apple. Underlying notes of figs, dates, fruitcake, walnuts, dark chocolate, and a subtle maritime salinity.
Palate
Rich sherry and roasted nuts balanced with sweet malt and sultanas, accompanied by warming spice, velvety caramel, and a subtle coastal influence. Flavors of toffee, mocha, orange peel, plum, baking chocolate, and sea salt are also present, with a full-bodied and oily mouthfeel.
Finish
Long and lingering, rich, full-bodied, with a spray of sea salt. Notes of mocha, walnut, oaky tannin, vanilla, dried herbs, Christmas cake spice, and a sweet and salty character.
