- Nose
- The first whiff directly introduces the eminent yet mild peat smoke, accompanied by red forest fruit such as blackberries and currants. Lapsang black tea and Almond, chestnuts are presenting themselves, but more in the background. After some time in the glass hints of apricots and honey begin to develope. Also, a gorgeous combination of sherry, peat and quite a lot of oak, dried fruits, and bitter notes. A whiff of smoke and quite a bit of dry oak, with a bacon-like scent, barley, coastal notes, and dried apples.
- Palate
- The mild peat smoke introduces itself in the taste, Mòine and Lapsang Souchong, like having a whisky and a barbecue at once. Red forest fruits like blackcurrants and blackberries are present, with a creamy, pleasant mouthfeel. The palate continues with bitterness, lots of nuts and dried fruit, almonds, apricots, and plums (with stones). Fierce with chili heat, leather, barley, and a smoky meat thing.
- Finish
- A long finish that brings Shiitake mushrooms, honeycomb and pear drop sweetness combined with apricot marmalade. Starts with a peppery bite, but also shows the sweeter side of sherry, with lots of oak, dried fruits, and a bit of smoke. A warming finish that goes a bit dry towards the end, with more bacon and smoke, and some caramelized brown sugar.
