There is a clear fruit-and-spice split: baked apples and raspberries sit beside savory rye spice and jalapeno heat, then the finish turns dry with leather and cigar box. That gives it more edge than a simply sweet rye. The long, warming finish sounds like the main strength, though the heat and dry tobacco character may be a lot if you want a softer, rounder whisky. I’d put it in the assertive, characterful camp.
