Description

CRN57 25 Year Old brings together single malts that have each spent at least a quarter century quietly maturing. The resulting whisky is rich and complex: dark fruit, pistachio, sandalwood, apple and prunes in armagnac followed by a long fruity finish. CRN57 is a series of blended whiskies from Gordon & MacPhail which showcases what the whisky from their new Cairn distillery will be like once it's released. It offers a preview of the distillery's future style, with delicious and sweet notes of rum and raisin, brown sugar, ripe fig, maple syrup and a hint of liquorice.

Nose
Rum and raisin with brown sugar. Ripe fig and maple syrup and a hint of liquorice. Nougat, almonds, honeycomb, pineapple cubes, citrus peel, gentle oak, and subtle wood spices.
Palate
Raspberry and pistachio nut with apple and tangy orange peel. Sliced apple sharpness initially with golden syrup, pineapple cubes, and gentle spices. Deep tropical fruit flavors coat the mouth with mango and dried apricot flavors. Yellow apple, dried apricot, maybe even echoes of tropical fruit like tangerine. Then almonds, candied orange peel, a hint of clove oil and very subtle tobacco.
Finish
Milk chocolate and oak. Soft, subtle finish of dried stone fruits, supple oak, and a hint of clove.
