Description

A 40-year-old natural cask strength single grain Scotch whisky from the closed Cambus Distillery, independently bottled by Douglas Laing as part of their XOP (Xtra Old Particular) series. Distilled in September 1976 and bottled in November 2016 from a single refill hogshead (DL 11527), with only 108 bottles produced. It is presented at natural cask strength and is non-chill filtered.

Clean, fruity top-notes of ripe red apples, pineapple and cape gooseberry, with vanilla, toffee, honey, hints of oak and spice.
Palate
Smooth and velvety, with caramel, butterscotch, dried fruit, and a hint of nuttiness. Oily mouthfeel with spices like nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, white pepper, aniseed, and light fruit drops.
Finish
Long, with aniseed and licorice dominating, followed by a gentle piney, mint-fresh wood note, waxy red-berries, dark toffee, fruit, almond, and a fresh, green apple sharpness with ginger spice.
