Nose
Heavy old sherry, cocoa, toffee, dried dark fruit, citrus, vanilla taffy, marzipan, and a touch floral with notes of honey candy and pears. Also, dry, lean, woody, with sugared almond, cigar smoke/cedar, and a distinct buttery note with sea salt, ginger loaf, and pecan pie.
Palate
Heavy sherry, cocoa, toffee, dried strawberries, citrus, vanilla frosting, hazelnuts, and some peat with notes of honey candy and pears. It has honeyed sweetness, good weight, and the smoke dominates the back palate. Creamy coffee, salted caramel, date syrup, crystallised brown sugar, and a subtle hint of peat smoke.
Finish
Medium length, with dried dark fruit, peat, strawberry frosting, citrus, and soap. Smoky, with long lingering sea salt and a spicy note of ground ginger. The peat smoke builds, with a leathery note developing over time.
