This is a 7-year-old Caol Ila single malt whisky, distilled in July 2014 and bottled in October 2021 by North Star Spirits. North Star Spirits is an independent bottler founded in Glasgow in 2016 by Iain Croucher, known for selecting quality casks and bottling at cask strength without chill filtration. This release is part of their Orion Series D17 and was matured in a Port Octave cask.

quiet compass21 AugThe summer berries and orchard fruits give this a clear fruit thread, but they sit alongside iodine, charcoal and sooty smoke. The metallic, slightly silicone-like nose sounds less inviting to me, so this feels more mixed than an easy fruit-led pick.
