Description

This 8-year-old Islay Single Malt from James Eadie, distilled at Caol Ila, showcases the distillery's signature coastal peat with a refined twist. It underwent a finish in Palo Cortado sherry hogsheads for over six months, adding a layer of dry, nutty complexity to the whisky's bright citrus and maritime character. This bottling is part of James Eadie's core range of annual Caol Ila Palo Cortado releases.

Nose
Taut and saline with clean peat smoke, sea air and wet stones. Then lemon oil and green apple, followed by Palo Cortado notes of almond, walnut and a lightly oxidative, wine like accent. In the background: cocoa powder, orange peel and subtle spice.
Palate
Energetic and gently oily with smoke and sea salt on arrival. Bright citrus zest follows, then nutty sherry notes and dried fruit, think raisins and lightly dried apricot.
Finish
Medium to long with lingering smoke, salinity and a nutty sherry grip. Drier toward the end with spicy oak, cocoa notes and a bittersweet orange peel accent.
