Description

A Speyside distillery originally built as an expansion for Glen Grant and known for many years simply as Glen Grant No.2. Despite obtaining its own identity in 1965, it was mostly operated for the provision of malt to blended Scotch brands and was eventually closed by Pernod Ricard in 2002. The oldest independent bottling company in Scotland and one of the earliest and foremost advocates for the ... Caperdonich distillery was demolished in 2010.

Nose
Big sherry, muscovado sugar, treacle notes, stewed apples, raisins, plums, brown sugar, red fruits, a hint of leather, oranges, pipe tobacco, dried fruits, and mentholated notes. With water, citrus and peach jam emerge.
Palate
Soft spice, juicy red fruits, blackcurrants, cherries, creamy notes, smoked meats, dried fruits, blueberries, strawberries, a punch of spices, dark chocolate, apricot, citrus, pepper, ginger, mint, eucalyptus, waxy notes, herbal tea, plain oak, ultra-fortified jam, and hard liquorice.
Finish
Long and chewy, mouth-coating sherry, almost salty with more black cherries, mid-long with hints of toffee and cacao beans, slightly bitter, sweetness of cane sugar, more oak and spices, drier, less thick, cinnamon, grape skins, and cocoa.
