This Chichibu 2011 Single Cask #3301 was distilled at the Chichibu Distillery in Japan, founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto and operational from 2008. The distillery is known for its hands-on approach and quality focus, utilizing Mizunara washbacks and small stills. This particular single malt was matured in an ex-Coedonado beer cask and was bottled in 2019 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Whisky Exchange. Chichibu is highly sought after due to its limited production and unique expressions.

Creamy and fruity with notes of kiwi, Charentais melon, Mirabelles, peaches, bananas, grapes, vanilla, brioche, and honey. Also hints of honeydew melon, green Jolly Rancher, fondant fancies, cracker bread, desiccated coconut, umami paste, dried paper, and musty earth.
Palate
Richly fruity with bananas, apricots, pears, Earl Grey tea, jasmine, juniper, eucalyptus, and liquorice. Subtle tannins, mint, ginger, creamy toffee, chocolate, stewed apple, sultana, sharp oak, caramel, bittersweet singed raisins, fruity dark chocolate, and soft cask char.
Finish
Medium length, with creamy fruit, bourbon wood, breadiness, drying oak, and fading cask spicing.
