big and grainy, quite spirity
The nose has a sweet-fruit line, with pear drops and orchard fruit leading into plum eau-de-vie. There is also a slight jenever-like spice. On the palate, muesli and oats meet dried apricot, with a faint earthy element adding contrast. The finish turns grainy and quite spirity, which keeps this from feeling fully composed. The shift from sweet fruit to cereal notes gives it interest, though the finish is a clear reservation.
The pear drops and orchard fruit give it an inviting start, while the oat-heavy palate sounds fuller and less sweet. That shift is appealing, though the grainy, quite spirity finish makes it feel less easygoing. A lively Japanese single malt, but not the softest fit.
