Description

The Chichibu Paris Edition 2025 Asakusa Itineraires is a limited edition single malt Japanese whisky, part of an annual series by Chichibu Distillery dedicated to the City of Lights since 2018. This 2025 release explores the urban identity of Paris and Tokyo, featuring six distinct labels, including the Asakusa variant, inspired by Japanese kawaii culture and postage stamps. It is a complex blend of whiskies aged between five and fourteen years, matured in a diverse selection of 17 casks, including new French oak, Spanish oak sherry, French oak Bordeaux wine, American oak hogshead, and bourbon barrels, some of which previously held heavily peated whisky. Bottled at 50.5% ABV, this expression is noted for its balance and intensity, reflecting the precision and craftsmanship of Chichibu Distillery. Only 2,484 individually numbered bottles were released for this edition.

Nose
Rich and unctuous, with malty bitterness, earthy and spicy notes of cinnamon, tropical fruits like passion fruit and lychee, dark berries (grape, blackberry), undergrowth nuances (dry leaves, porcini mushrooms), and subtle prune.
Palate
Clean and lively, initially oily, robustly peaty, lemony, and peppery. It evolves towards honeyed and waxy tones, becoming creamy with notes of toasted bread, rusk, barley porridge, and delicious fruits such as mirabelle plum and damson.
Finish
Long and concentrated, echoing malty tones, refreshed by gentian, mint, eucalyptus, and sage. Exotic notes of passion fruit and candied prune slowly soften into touches of toffee and bourbon vanilla.
