Description
From its Mizunara wash backs and small stills with steep lyne arms to the fact that the mashman uses a wooden paddle to stir the mash, Chichibu is a hands-on distillery with quality as an intrinsic focus. With the ground now broken on a blending room, and an off-site cooperage, Ichiro Akuto's distillery - formed from the ashes of his grandfather's Hanyu distillery - is one of the finest producers. This release, exclusive to the Japanese market, originated from a 2010 distillation and was made available in 2015. The maturation process involved two different cask types: a 1st Fill Barrel and a 3rd Fill Puncheon. With only 593 bottles released, it's a limited edition, appealing to whisky collectors. Specifically bottled for the Whisky Talk 2015 event in Fukuoka, Japan, this whisky serves as a memento of this significant occasion.
