Description

A malt distillery in the Highland region of Scotland and part of the Scotch whisky holdings of Diageo. The current distillery was built in 1967 and despite its long associations to the Johnnie Walker blends, it has one of the oldest single malt brands as well.

Nose
Dense chocolatey notes, with snuffed candle and mahogany savoury elements. Nutty notes, hints of chocolate milk and malt. Maraschino cherries with fudge, butterscotch, hints of dragonfruit, and a bit of a dried basil note in the background.
Palate
Candied ginger, honey-roasted peanuts, spun sugar, prunes. Fresh fruity taste with attractive shades of red and green apples, hints of oak and nuances of honey from clover. More butterscotch here as the cherries turn more to a cherry cough syrup, fair amount of oak bringing along vanilla and bitter cocoa.
Finish
Toasted almonds, flamed orange peel, another hint of snuffed candle. Nuances of chocolate, vanilla ice cream and apple varieties Granny Smith. Oaky with bold cinnamon and cherry cough syrup.
