Description

A malt distillery in the Highland region of Scotland and part of the Scotch whisky holdings of Diageo. The current distillery was built in 1967 and despite its long associations to the Johnnie Walker blends, it has one of the oldest single malt brands as well. This is a premium line of single cask Scotch whisky bottlings introduced by Douglas Laing & Co in 2001, part of their Old & Rare Platinum series. It was reserved for the company's best stock.

Nose
Dew fresh apples on the tree, rich orchard, sun just breaking through the clouds, a wonderful summer day dawning. Thyme and other fresh herbs, cut grass, vanilla, powdered sugar and honey. Faint traces of waxiness, strawberries covered with rich cream.
Palate
Rich and full. Creamy and waxy mouthfeel. Honey, fresh apples, and white pepper.
Finish
Warm and lingering. Apples, ginger, honey and a pinch of white pepper. A bit oaky and thin, slightly metallic towards the end.
