Description

This is a former Compass Box release from a time when "vatted malt" was still a legally accepted term. Produced from 2001 until 2005, Eleuthera was actually the company's first blended malt, and the recipe contained 15-year-old Clynelish from re-charred casks, and a 12-year-old single malt from the Port Askaig area of Islay. The blend was retired when the Clynelish needed became unavailable. *

Series highlights
Eleuthera was Compass Box's very first vatted malt. It was discontinued in 2005 due to the unavailability of 15-year-old Clynelish aged in re-charred casks.

Nose
A real coastal quality, sea breeze, citrus, swirling smoke, rich, oily, fruity, peaty and maritime with light fruits, caramel, vanilla, honey, and spice.
Palate
Big, oily, rich and peaty with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Notes of vanilla, ginger, white pepper, fresh herbs, salt, soft oakiness, caramel, malt, butterscotch, banana, coconut, and sweet fruit like apples and mango.
Finish
Long, complex, and smooth. Peat fights back, dryish with pepper notes, ashes, dark chocolate, smoke fading to wood and malt, and a thick fruity sweetness.
