Description

This elegant old Convalmore was drawn from a single American oak hogshead filled at the lost Highland distillery in 1975. After 46 years of aging it has emerged an intensely aromatic whisky. Convalmore was shuttered in 1985, and has only been bottled as a single malt by independent bottlers.

Nose
Orange sherbet and lemon peel give way to subtle notes of rhubarb. Rose petal aromas develop with lime bitters and mature oak. Tropical fruits, candied peel, beeswax, banana, and rhubarb are also present.
Palate
Lemon drizzle cake flavours combine with orange oil and toasted almonds. Honeysuckle gives way to a soft herbal note and brown sugar. Spicy fruits with a lemony tang, rhubarb, cider apples, oranges, and green apples are also noted.
Finish
Full and creamy with lingering citrus and vanilla pod. A long finish developing more empyreumatic notes with coffee and chocolate, whilst maintaining a citrusy tang with lemon and cider apples.
