Description
The Craigellachie 13 Year Old is a robust and muscular Speyside single malt whisky, known for defying typical Speyside characteristics. It was first released in 2014 as part of the 'Last Great Malts of Scotland' range. This expression is non-chill filtered and contains no caramel colouring, bottled at 46% ABV. It is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, with some finishing in first-fill Sherry and Bourbon casks. The distillery's use of worm tub condensers contributes to its distinctive character, which some describe as having a unique sulphurous or meaty note, alongside fruity and spicy elements.
