Description

This Craigellachie 9 Year Old is a superb Speyside single malt, matured for nine years and finished in a single first-fill Portuguese red wine barrique. Bottled in 2022 from a 2013 distillation, this single cask release yielded 234 bottles at a cask strength of 52.1%. The Dràm Mòr group, established in 2019 as a family-owned independent bottler, prides itself on delivering quality spirits. Craigellachie distillery is known for its unique, robust, and muscular whisky, often defying typical Speyside character.

Nose
Honeyed almonds, chewy toffee, chocolate raisins, syrupy sponge, stewed cranberries, sultanas, peach crumble, vanilla, and red apple, gently evolving into sweet Italian dessert wine.
Palate
Hearty charred oak with rich vanilla and baking spice, balanced by warm caramel and treacle sweetness, soft vanilla, sweet and slightly bitter stone fruitiness, and a touch of charred oak.
Finish
Vinous fruit and red berries with candied ginger and a hint of pepper, full of dried fruit and sweet red wine with well-rounded spices, lingering long.
