Description

A mature release of 18 year old single malt from Speyside giant Craigellachie, this rare bottling is inspired by the Highlands many legendary beasts. Distilled in 2005, the whisky rested in a premium Cognac cask. Just 278 bottles were bottled of this phenomenal spirit by impressive independent bottler Spiritfilled. Notes of baked apple and vanilla.

Nose
Rich fruity tones with accents of sweet, stewed orchard fruits- baked apple and pear compote layered over burnt toffee and a touch of struck match. A reminder of childhood pineapple cube sweets.
Palate
The mouthfeel is full-bodied and pleasantly oily. Initial sharp and zingy sweetness leads to honeyed malt and butterscotch then gives way to tropical fruit and charred oak. There is a balance of spice- nutmeg, ginger and a tang of lemon zest.
Finish
A supremely elegant and long finish which is long and warming. Lingering notes of roasted nuts and dark caramel, with a light mineral smokiness trailing off slowly.
