Description

A limited-edition bottling of smoky Cù Bòcan whisky from Tomatin distillery, distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2016, making it 28 years old. This Highland single malt was matured in a marriage of refill bourbon hogsheads and refill sherry butts that previously held heavily-peated Islay whisky, imparting a delicate smokiness to the naturally light spirit. It is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill filtered.

Nose
Delicate campfire smoke and sweet ash give way to stewed pears, Peach Melba, and toasted coconut. Hints of fresh cut grass, heather, and cereal linger in the background with creamy buttermilk. Sweet citrus, grapefruit, mandarin, and candied lemon zest, with an underpinning of soft woodsmoke and tobacco.
Palate
Candied tropical fruits are perfectly balanced with an earthy peat tang. Warming dried fruit, blood orange, and a gentle nut note emerge. Soft texture, gentle woodsmoke and cereals up front, becoming rich and floral with plums, raisins, banana, ginger, clove, and cinnamon.
Finish
Earthy smoke and oak spice linger with a creamy texture. Long and fragrant with honey, cherries, cranberries, nectarine, and warm baking spices. Slowly drying, with persistent spice, nuts, and smoke.
