Description

This is a rare Speyside single malt whisky from the closed Dallas Dhu distillery, distilled in 1982, just a year before its closure in 1983. It was independently bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2008, making it a 26-year-old expression. Gordon & MacPhail, founded in 1895, is renowned for bottling single malt whiskies and preserving the legacy of silent distilleries. The Dallas Dhu distillery itself is now a museum.

Palate
Rich and fruity with balanced maltiness and vanilla. Spicy notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper, alongside buttery and dry oak. Hints of heather, violet, earth, moss, and a drying smokiness. Some detect bittersweet notes, pine, herbs, and toasted oak.
Finish
Fairly long and refreshing, with lingering spice (white pepper, chilli) and soothing vanilla. Smooth and delicately sweet with hints of dried fruit. Some note a dry character with hints of mustard, herbs, and foresty notes.
