Description

Deanston started life as a cotton mill in 1785 but by the 1960s the mill closed and - formed by the ideas of whisky broker, Brodie Hepburn - it began producing single malt whisky in 1967. Today it is owned by South African drinks company Distell and the majority of the whisky is used in popular blend Scottish Leader. This 12 Year Old expression is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled at 46.3% ABV, non-chill filtered, and matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks. It is known for its smooth, honeyed, and waxy character.

Fresh hays of summer, malty cereal, rich creamy toffee and honeyed heather, balanced with sweet oak and barley sugar, white fruit (apple and pear), vanilla, caramel, spice (ginger, cloves), floral notes, porridge oats, lemon peel, and honey.
Palate
Smooth creamy sweetness with sumptuous hints of fruit, malty honeyed spiciness and soft vanilla, malt biscuits, toasted oak, nutmeg, chocolate orange, cinnamon, stem ginger, clove, and a buttery/waxy/silky mouthfeel.
Finish
Crisp and satisfying with a tingle of cloves which linger, then gently fade, dry oak, caramel, ginger, sweet citrus, spice, and a slight hint of brininess.
