Nose
Cherries in their own syrup, strawberries and dark chocolate. Very aromatic with some waxy fruits, red grapes, more cherries but this time like the sour gummy cherry sweets you can buy. Raspberries push out on the final sniff, really fresh and juicy ones.
Palate
Initially very dry from the ABV, but the fruit starts to run through then. Again, more cherries, raspberries and a little taste of caramel that's starting to creep in at the back. So heavy with red fruits, fresh ones, not the kind you would associate with sherry – this is a bigger, juicier style of blend. More of those bitter dark chocolate notes start to arrive at the end, with a little touch of spice, too.
Finish
Caramel sauce and cherry sauce. This thing is really nice. You get the dryness from the wine but with no tannins, there's weight to it but it doesn't lean into bitter at any point. There's barley even a glimpse of wood. The finish lasts for ages and coats your mouth in this cherry syrup, slightly mity flavour.
