Description
Dewar's 15 Year Old The Monarch is a blended Scotch whisky crafted from up to thirty single malt and grain whiskies, aged for no less than 15 years. [1] It undergoes Dewar's signature two-stage aging process, where the whiskies are matured in sherry and bourbon casks, then blended and married together in specially selected oak casks for greater smoothness and integration. [1, 3, 9, 14] The expression is named 'The Monarch' after Sir Edwin Landseer's famous 1851 painting 'The Monarch of the Glen,' which was purchased by John Dewar's and Sons in 1916. [1, 2, 16] Originally created for the Chinese market, it has since become a global staple. [2]
