Description

The Edradour 18 Year Old DFR Amarone Cask is an exceptional Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years in first-fill DFR Amarone Hogsheads sourced from the famed Valpolicella wine region. This small-batch release combines Edradour's robust, fruit-forward character with the influence of Italian red wine casks, imparting layers of dark berries, ripe cherries, and a hint of spice. It is un-chillfiltered and of natural color, with no caramel coloring added, preserving its natural character and allowing for potential cloudiness when served cool, which is a sign of quality. Edradour, known as 'Scotland's Little Gem', is one of Scotland's smallest and most traditional distilleries, founded in 1825. [2, 3, 4, 5, 7]

Nose
Ripe black cherries and dark forest berries define the intense bouquet. These are complemented by spicy oak and subtle spice notes, adding depth and complexity to the aroma.
Palate
The whisky feels velvety and full-bodied on the palate. Intense berry flavors meet fine dark chocolate, while distinctive oak spice provides structure and depth.
Finish
The finish is long and full of character. A fine tannin structure combines with a subtle peppery bite before spicy wood notes fade away, leaving a pleasant, dry impression. [3, 4, 5, 7]
