Nose
Hints of dried fruits, spices and marmalade. Chocolate mousse, Christmas cake and a little burnt sugar. Spicy syrup, wood shavings, hazelnut, orange zest, cloves. Full frontal sherry with caramelized muscovado sugar, Christmas spice like cinnamon and cloves, dark fruits, slightly nutty with underlying oak.
Palate
Rich raisins, baked cooking apples and spiced orange cake. Walnuts, pecans, prunes and plums. Clove and cinnamon heat develop underneath the sweetness. Very dry, musty and woody, with blackberries. Sticky toffee pudding with rich dates, mulled wine with star anise, sugared orange peels, slight spice reminiscent of dark chocolate with chili.
Finish
Dried apricots and sultanas. Spicy and warming in the throat. Dark and dry, lots of warming spices, blackberries and cherries. Medium, peppery finish, wee bit of bite but actually very easy to drink.
