Description

A historic Kentucky distillery and the oldest still operating in the state. It is the flagship production facility of the Sazerac Company and in addition to its eponymous straight bourbon, also produces a host of brands such as Pappy Van Winkle, Col. E.H. Taylor, Eagle Rare, Weller and Sazerac Rye. A brand of single barrel Kentucky bourbon named after the late George T. Stagg master distiller who pioneered single barrel bourbons.

Floral, yeasty, and bready with notes of fresh baked bread, cream soda, soft oak, coconut, cinnamon, honey, maple, vanilla, clove, old leather, plums, peaches, nutmeg, pepper, paper, and pencil shavings.
Palate
Subtle, soft, and sweet with notes of toasted oak, caramel, vanilla, fruity rye, sour mash, pipe tobacco, yeast, fruit, crème caramel, peach, dried raisin, maple candy, wood, spice, honey, and baking spices. It is described as light and smooth.
Finish
Long, warm, and dry with notes of vanilla, oak, red fruit, leather, aged wood, tobacco leaves, brown sugar, cinnamon, and subtle rye spice. It can be a bit astringent initially but opens up.
