Description

Rooted in tradition, St. George's Distillery is proud to make whisky the old-fashioned way, using slow processes, traditional equipment and honest, local ingredients. James Nelstrop's original goal for the distillery was to create England's finest single-malt whisky. This has been the sole ambition for nearly 16 years and is what continues to drive them forward today. This particular expression is a small batch release matured in virgin oak casks, distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2019.

Nose
Toasted oak, vanilla, Bounty ice cream bars, ginger nuts biscuits and Indian spices. Coconut and liquorice with hints of toffee and dark chocolate. Light vanilla and rich oak. Wood spices, think cloves and nutmeg.
Palate
Sweet and bold barley notes with Bakewell tarts and warm nutmeg spice. Creamy vanilla and dark chocolate with coffee beans. Rich and oily. Spicy, the notes of dry oak and vanilla come through, Hints of honey, toffee, chocolate and cloves linger on the palate.
Finish
Medium to long with honey sweetness, toasted brioche, lemon citrus and soft white pepper. Long and spicy. Refreshingly long and vibrant. The vanilla has become honeyed, some milk chocolate, a candied fruitiness, the delicious virgin oak spice comes more to the fore and pleasures every corner of the palate.
