Description

The unique flavour of this 8 year old from English Whisky Co comes from its distillation period in bourbon then Sauternes casks. The typically flamboyant label added by That Boutique-y Whisky Company depicts a dragon in tribute to St George's distillery where the dram comes to life

Nose
Bonfire smoke and sweet green apple, with cherry soda, rancio and bruised pears. Polished oak, cinnamon sticks and candy cane menthol. Roast dinner meets peat bog – beef, onions and herby gravy with mint and sage stuffing. Buttered popcorn and sea-salt meet a mild lemony peat smoke. Wet clay, putty and burnt toffee.
Palate
Crisp apple sweetness, sour cherry boiled sweets and Big Red cinnamon drink. Thick ash, oak tannins, rancio and furniture polish. Buttery (but burnt) chocolate cream and ashy smoke that's quite oily. Lemon peels and gentle brine make way for butterscotch and vanilla cream.
Finish
Warm, sweet and prolonged. Rich barley and meaty smoke linger. Long, sweet and savoury – beef stock and malt loaf with a touch of floor cleaner with plenty of inland smoky ashiness.
