Fuji Gotemba 2017 Distiller's Select Rich Single Grain is an official bottling from the Fuji Gotemba distillery, established in 1973 by the Kirin-Seagram partnership. The distillery, located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan, is known for producing a variety of whisky styles, including this single grain expression. The Fuji brand was launched in 2020, and this 'Distiller's Select' series highlights whiskies crafted by the distillery's blenders. Inviting aromas of apple, banana, pears, baked fruits, cinnamon, liquorice, honey, light buttercream, baking spice, thick fudge, hazelnut, poached pear, rustic fruit tart, Cognac, and marron glacé.
Palate
Soft and thick mouthfeel with notes of orange, sweet spices, rye bread, bitter chocolate, dark chocolate, red berries, orchard fruit, cedar wood, dulce de leche, dried apple, red wine, white grape, orange peel, raspberry, flaky pastry, apple butter sweetness, and light heather.
Finish
Medium to long, mellow and sweet, with hints of woodiness, incense, homely rye bread, exotic incense wood, light oak, blueberry, and light pear.
