Description

An LMDW exclusive, this Glann Ar Mor 2007 Version Française is a single malt from the Glann Ar Mor distillery, founded in 2005 by Martine and Jean Donnay. The distillery is known for its high-quality artisanal products, using small onion-shaped stills and direct-fired copper worm tubes. The whisky is aged in first-fill Bourbon casks in a warehouse just a hundred metres from the sea, contributing to its unique profile. This particular release is a single cask bottling, unpeated, and non-chill filtered, combining rich pastry aromas with the minerality of the Breton coast.

Nose
very clean and particularly pleasing, the nose is above all pastry-scented (vanilla flan, coconut) and exotic (banana, confit yuzu). The fruit then mixes with malty, noble wood and salted butter caramel aromas. Also mineral, the iodine on the nose is like a field of barley swept with sea spray. Allowed to breathe, we find notes of liquorice that reflect the long maturation.
Palate
the whisky has a beautiful oily and rich texture. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, allowing full expression of the aromas of spices (vanilla, cinnamon) and fruit. Flat peach and red apple then make way for orange marmalade seasoned with spearmint. The marine notes, although discreet, offer great minerality.
Finish
with good length, the spices linger first. Then, after a few seconds, aromas of roasted malt and star anise appear, before blooming a few minutes later in sea spray.
