Named after the company that operated out of Dundashill distillery in the early 1800s, the Glasgow Distillery Company was set up by Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall in 2013 and began producing Makar Gin in the early stages. Having laid down the first casks in March 2015, the Glasgow Distillery Co., hoping to welcome the new era of distilling in Glasgow, were able to proudly release their first single malt. This Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish is a Distillery Exclusive, distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021 at 56.2% ABV. It was initially matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon cask before being finished in a Portuguese Ruby Port barrique.
