Description

A historic Highland malt distillery and one of the oldest still operating in Scotland, Glen Garioch was established in the heart of Old Meldrum in 1797. This 8 Year Old bottling, likely from the late 1970s or 1980s, captures the quintessential Highland spirit with a harmonious blend of fruity zest and comforting warmth.

Nose
Delightful mix of citrus zest, green apple, and ripe pear complemented by warm vanilla, heather, light spices, and soft oak. Light, with a charming smokiness and incredibly clean. Very floral, like freshly cut grass and heather.
Palate
Dominant honey and orchard fruits meld with subtle vanilla and almond, resulting in a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Intensely malty, fresh with increasing sweetness as the kippery peatiness gathers. Slightly crisp and sweet honey-heather with a hint of saltiness, fresh maltiness, and a touch of spice and smoke.
Finish
A moderate and gentle trail of sweet oak with a whisper of spice for a warm finish. Echoing smoke and a delicious build up of cocoa notes. Long and musty sweet.
