Description

Glen Garioch distillery, founded in 1797, is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, located in the Highland region. This 8 Year Old expression is known for its rich, full-bodied character with cereal and spicy notes. It was bottled before the distillery revamped its line-up in 2009. Older bottlings like this one were typically lightly peated. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 4, 18, 20]

Nose
Cut grass, flowery, peaty, and buttery, with hints of citrus zest, green apple, ripe pear, warm vanilla, heather, light spices, and soft oak.
Palate
Slight honey, table salt, intensely malty, fresh with increasing sweetness as the kippery peatiness gathers, dominant honey and orchard fruits meld with subtle vanilla and almond, resulting in a smooth, slightly creamy texture.
Finish
Short, slightly sweet (heathery), echoing smoke and a delicious build up of cocoa notes, a moderate and gentle trail of sweet oak with a whisper of spice for a warm finish.
