Description

Glen Garioch distillery was founded in 1797, making it among the oldest distilleries in Scotland. This is a 16-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 1986 and bottled in 2002 from a single sherry butt, cask #3065. It was bottled at 54.4% ABV, with 548 bottles produced. This release is from a period when Glen Garioch still peated a proportion of its malt.

Another with big cask influence - dunnage warehouse, varnish, black pepper, treacle, liquorice, dried fruits and smoke (smoked cheese?). A big boy.
Palate
Those big, rich, fruity, figgy, raisined flavours dominate, then comes a light perfumed note that just knocks the balance a bit.
Finish
Dry, smoky.
