Description

One of the biggest names in Scotland's Speyside region, currently under Italian ownership by the Campari Group. Opened in 1840 by James and John Grant, it has one of Scotch whisky's longest-running single malt brands and played a key role in the emergence of the category in the 20th century. This particular bottling is from Moon Import, an iconic Italian importer and independent bottler, founded in Genoa in 1980 by Pepi Mongiardino, revered for its pioneering approach to independent bottlings and serialised releases.

Rich and exotic fruit aromas, full sherry, sultanas, sweet wine (Maury, Banyuls, cream sherry), blackcurrant, cinder toffee, damson jam, Victorian sponge cake with fresh whipped cream, spices, black pepper, hints of meat sauce, faint soapiness, ham.
Palate
Dry, extremely 'oloroso-ed', Syrma raisins, bitter chocolate, coffee-schnapps, smooth and mellow, cinnamon, apricots, maple syrup, toasted waffles, building and warming spice, forest fruits, tobacco leaf, dark fruits, sweet spices.
Finish
