Description

A former malt distillery that was located in Inverness, neighbouring the Glen Albyn distillery. It was built in 1894 by Mackinlay's & Birnie before eventually being acquired by the Distillers Company in 1972. It was closed in 1983 and the site demolished three years later. An Italian import company founded in 1979 by Ernesto Mainardi. It acted as one of several agents in Italy for Gordon & Mac. This Glen Mhor 24 Years, distilled in 1963 and bottled in the 1980s by the legendary Italian importer Sestante, is a rare expression from the now-closed distillery.

Nose
Delicate and layered with aromas of old bookshelves, dried flowers, beeswax and orange zest. Subtle notes of peat smoke, furniture polish and lightly oxidized sherry lend it a beautiful vintage charm.
Palate
Soft, complex and perfectly balanced. Flavours of spiced apple, dried apricots, autumn leaves, gentle smoke and an elegant minerality. Almost ethereal mouthfeel with hints of aged oak and soft waxiness.
Finish
Long, dry and refined. The finish brings spice, old wood and a coastal salinity that fades slowly — like a memory from a bygone era.
